We are pleased to invite you to the International Conference “Challenges for High Quality of Adult Education”. The conference will bring together experts, practitioners, policy makers and researchers in the field of adult education. The conference is intended as a forum to share experience and knowledge across Europe. The Conference is hosted by the National Library of Latvia, May 30, 2017.

Non-formal adult education is a part of Lifelong Learning and is able to provide a wide range of competences required by today’s knowledge society. To be effective it requires quality to ensure education that leads to better competence acquisition for new opportunities either in life or at work.

Representatives from European Commission, Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Welfare and Ministry of Economics, local governments, universities, adult education providers, libraries, NGO`s and different adult education institutions are invited to participate in the conference.
The conference organizing committee welcomes any contribution to the scientific publication that will advance our understanding of the prerequisites for effective adult education policy and practice in order to increase participation and ensure lifelong competence development.  

The Conference is free of charge. The conference language is English and Latvian. Simultaneous translation will be provided. The submitted papers will be reviewed by the members of the scientific committee, the conference proceedings will be published with an ISBN and electronically, and also submitted for scientific indexation.

We are particularly interested to receive papers that focus on the following themes:

1. Quality in non-formal adult education.
2. Professional competence of adult educator.
3. Governance of adult education.
4. Andragogy - challenge to librarian’s competence.
5. Support to adult learning.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

1 page abstracts should be submitted clearly highlighting contribution of the research, methodology and key results (max. 400 words).  Both empirical and conceptual papers are welcome.
Abstracts have to be submitted electronically in English or in Latvian.

Submit your abstract and fill in the forms in Latvian here or in English here.
Following the review process, notifications about the acceptance of the papers will be sent to the authors.
The authors of the accepted papers will receive an invitation to submit a full paper for the Proceedings of the Conference. The full paper length is 10 – 15 pages.

DEADLINES

Abstracts should be submitted by March 20, 2017.
Notification of acceptance, will be forwarded to authors by March 30, 2017.
Full papers should be submitting by May 15, 2017.
Registration deadline for the participation in the conference is May 20, 2017.
