Stronger Work-Based Learning for the Improvement of Vocational Education and Training in Latvia
The main objective of the project is to create a modern, sector-based vocational education model that ensures high-quality skills and competencies required in the labor market. Within the initiative, it is planned to develop a new sector-based model for obtaining professional qualifications, in which industry, in cooperation with the education sector, is directly responsible for the content of vocational education, the assessment of learning outcomes, the provision of a high-quality learning process, and participation in ensuring the financing of vocational education.
A modern and sustainable vocational education model can only be implemented by appropriately trained teachers; therefore, the initiative will promote the professional development of vocational education teachers based on a modern and environmentally friendly material and technical infrastructure, including digital learning tools and simulation equipment.
The sustainability of the project results will be ensured through the adoption of regulatory acts and the implementation of necessary amendments to fully integrate sector-based education into Latvia’s vocational education system. The models and materials developed with the support of the program will be maintained and updated in the long term, ensuring accessible and high-quality education even after the project has ended.
